The Dutch East India Company (VOC) was a trade organisation, both of goods and enslaved humans. In the Dutch Republic was great demand of spices and special objects from the East. An example is the Oriental porcelain especially designed for Europe. The images differ from the original Chinese plates. The VOC transported the chinaware to the Dutch Republic where huge sums of money were paid for it.
